The name Artemis probably comes from the Greek word "artemes"

Which means something like “safe”.

As the goddess of hunting, Artemis was credited with abilities such as accuracy and dexterity. However, the goddess could also be aloof and cruel.

She carries and uses a bow and arrow to atone for crimes, especially crimes against her mother, the Earth.

Artemis certainly represents the wild, untamed, independent part, the uncontrollability of (mother) nature - traits that all women carry within themselves. The goddess is the female soul figure of all those women who do not need a “better half”.<br>

The only man who could approach with impunity was her twin brother Apollo. She is a brave fighter and was especially revered by the Amazons.

The best-known story about an encounter with a man is that of Actaion, who was a passionate hunter. When he hunted again and looked for a cool place in the forest in the midday heat, he came to a shady valley that was sacred to Artemis. At its bottom there was a grotto where the goddess was bathing. When Actaion saw her naked, she turned him into a deer to prevent him from telling about this forbidden encounter. Actaeon was later mauled by his own hunting dogs.

All-ruling nature goddess

If Apollo was equated with the sun god, Artemis was the corresponding moon goddess. She thus became the all-ruling goddess of nature and its cycles.

For the goddess Artemis, there is no authority above her, she rules over herself and is free from the influence of others. Women call for your support when they need this power of self-determination and clear decisions. Artemis encourages women to take their space, set clear boundaries and pay attention to their needs.
