Nyx is the goddess of women who become productive primarily at night or out of the greatest chaos.

She was generally considered one of the mysterious primordial gods. Together with her husband Erebus she inhabited the dark corners of the underworld. As an extremely powerful being, she was even respected and feared by Zeus.

She was the daughter of Chaos and the mother of many important divine figures, including Hypnos (the god of sleep) and Thanatos (the god of death). Nyx ruled over the night and made sure it came every day, casting her veil of darkness over the world and lighting the sky with stars and the moon.

Hera convinced Hypnos to put her husband Zeus to sleep while she plotted against him. However, Hypnos was not powerful enough to completely incapacitate Zeus, and upon finding out what Hypnos had done, Zeus chased after him.

Hypnos sought refuge in his mother's cave, and when he discovered the whereabouts of his prey, he gave up the hunt, as Zeus was wary of angering Nyx.
