Your name and its meaning

The name "Nemesis" comes from Greek and has an interesting meaning and origin. The name “Nemesis” comes from the Greek word “nemein,” which means “to distribute” or “to balance.” Therefore, Nemesis can be translated as "the balancer" or "the dispenser of justice."

The myth of Narcissus

Narcissus was an incredibly beautiful young man. From birth he was of extraordinary beauty, and his grace attracted the attention of many admirers.

One day, while wandering through a forest, Narcissus suddenly heard the sound of rushing water. As he got closer to the source of the noise, he discovered a clear source. When he looked into the water, he saw his own reflection. The beauty of this reflection fascinated him so much that he stared into the source for hours and fell in love with his own image.

Narcissus was so obsessed with his own beauty that he no longer paid attention to anyone else.

The gods, particularly Nemesis, the goddess of righteous retribution, viewed Narcissus' self-centered behavior with disapproval. As punishment for his self-absorption, Nemesis decided to punish him. She ensured that while Narcissus looked at his reflection in the spring again, he fell into the water and drowned because he could no longer distinguish between reality and his reflection.

Silver egg in the lap of darkness

Nemesis was a daughter of Nyx (Night), either born only of her or the daughter of Nyx and Erebus, or daughter of Oceanus. According to legend, Zeus, the father of the gods, mated with her in the form of a swan after she had fled from his persecutions out of shame and righteous anger. As she fled across the sea, she turned into a fish. When she reached the edge of the earth, she transformed again into a duck or goose, with which Zeus fathered Helen as a swan, for whose sake the Trojan War was ultimately fought.
